Executive Director, Ontario Colleges Library Service
Lead a new, shared, centralized model for library services.
Ontario’s colleges are creating a new model for shared, centralized library services and resources under a new governance structure and board. Through the creation of a new entity, Ontario Colleges Library Service (OCLS) will deliver a limited suite of core library services to the 24 colleges of applied arts and technology across the Province. As it readies to launch in Spring of 2009, the Board of OCLS is seeking an inaugural Executive Director to execute its strategic and operational plans.
Working closely with Ontario’s colleges and library partners, you will build a small, dynamic and flexible team of library professionals to provide an affordable array of technologically driven service offerings to meet the needs of OCLS’ many users and clients. With a focus on delivering three core services: (i) the administration of a system catalogue; (ii) the negotiation of vendor agreements under which colleges will be able to source materials directly at specified pricing and cataloguing levels and within specific delivery timeframes; and (iii) user-driven research, you will also offer a menu of opt-in, pay-per-use services such as video on demand, remote authentication and federated search. You will ensure that OCLS systems are accessible and responsive to users, foster and promote innovation and a strong customer service culture with your team, and ensure operating and financial sustainability and cost effectiveness.
With experience leading a library service in a complex, public-sector environment, you have demonstrated your ability to manage people, budgets, systems and customer service effectively. Accustomed to working with a seasoned board, you’re adept at achieving buy-in and consensus with multiple stakeholders. Along with your Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Services, you are ready for a broad mandate where you will acquire space, build a team, and provide leadership and direction for a new model in centralized, shared library services. Location: Toronto.
The review of applications will proceed in late February 2009. To confidentially explore this opportunity, please forward your resume, in confidence, quoting Project OCLS0209, to resumes@promeus.ca
