Limited Term Contract
The University Library at Thompson Rivers University, Canada’s most comprehensive University, seeks a creative and committed individual to join its dynamic team for a limited term position as Web Services Librarian.
DUTIES:
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Administer and further develop the TRU Library’s online presence, including but not limited to the library website, mobile applications, and social networking sites
- Manage online group booking system
- Administers LibGuides system
- Evaluate, recommend, and implements appropriate web tools and applications to ensure that the library’s web presence is innovative, technologically progressive, easy to use, secure, and easy to maintain
- Develops, maintains, and evaluates web services policies and procedures
- Advises and works collaboratively with the Interim University Library Director and librarians on best practices related to web services and emerging technologies
- Participates and contributes to the Library’s team organization
- Collects, analyses and disseminates statistical reports to facilitate evaluation and assessment of web services
- Provides face-to-face and/or virtual reference and research assistance
- Teaches library instruction classes and provides training and workshops to faculty and staff
- Developing print and online reference and instructional materials
- Participates in collection development
- Participates in ongoing professional development activities
**May involve evening and weekend work
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program
- Two years academic library experience preferred
- Strong commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated experience in library website design and development, including the building and/or integration of a variety of web applications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, Photoshop required
- Knowledge and experience with JavaScript and XML preferred
- Familiarity with usability testing and web analytics
- Excellent understanding of Web 2.0 technologies, social media, and emerging trends in library applications
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills complemented by the ability to take initiative
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: March 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013
