The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), established in 1978, is Canada’s premier institute for education and research in naturopathic medicine. The graduates of its intensive four-year post-graduate medical program are recognized for regulation/licensure in all Canadian and most American jurisdictions in which naturopathic medicine is regulated. CCNM is a registered charity dependent upon tuition, research grants and donations for the fulfillment of its mission. The Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC) is Canada's largest naturopathic teaching clinic caring for more than 100 patients a day, of all ages and with a wide range of health concerns. CCNM is currently seeking a well organized, customer-service oriented person for a full-time Circulation Desk Administrator (CDA) position. The incumbent will work with a team consisting of a Library Technician, seven Student Assistants, and the manager of the Learning Resource Centre. The position requires carrying out circulation and reference services in the CCNM LRC; maintaining databases of staff, faculty, students, and alumni; tracking overdue materials and fines; processing course reserves; creating circulation related notices; creating library guides and tutorials for patron use; overseeing circulation statistics; and resolving circulation related complaints. The CDA also provides technical user support by assisting students with the Polaris operating system, printing and photocopying services, wireless computer access, and all e-resources. The CDA maintains LRC web space which promotes the LRC’s resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
•2-3 years related Library experience. Education in health sciences would be an asset
•Experience using automated Library systems and software. Familiarity with Polaris preferred
•A high level of IT literacy, including familiarity with Windows based PCs, Microsoft applications; experience with research databases that support student learning
•Demonstrated understanding of cataloguing
•Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing with all levels of persons. Fluency in English is required
•Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and clerical skills with a focus on attention to detail
•Project management experience or training
•Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift books not exceeding safety limits set forth by the Ministry of Labour
