THE CORPORATION OF THE COUNTY OF BRUCE
REQUIRES AN
ASSISTANT LIBRARY DIRECTOR
This full time position is based at our headquarters in Port Elgin, along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Huron. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director in the administration of the Bruce County Public Library. Specifically, the Assistant provides direct supervision for Headquarters (HQ) technical services staff and hands-on management of the Library’s integrated library system. The Assistant attends various meetings in order to represent the Library, and stands in for the Director in his absence. Our library system comprises of 18 library branches throughout the County.
Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills are essential in this position, as are supervisory and public relations skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Library Science
- Minimum of five years in a similar work environment
- Supervisory experience
- Strong public relation skills
- Familiarity with up-to-date online public library activities in such areas as social networking, providing access to digital files and other electronic resources.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems, strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
Asset
- experience in a unionized environment
Salary Range: $70,742 - $83,224
