KFPL is a progressive, innovative, multi-branch library system with a mission to provide exceptional customer service within the context of a warm and welcoming environment. To this end, we are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic leader to manage the day to day operations of all sixteen branches of KFPL. In this newly created role, we are looking for an experienced Librarian who has demonstrated the ability to lead staff in the delivery of exemplary customer service and who understands what it takes to showcase a branch.
Reporting to the Director, Branch Operations, you will manage all aspects of branch service delivery at the sixteen branches of KFPL. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of staff committed to excellent customer service and will work to showcase branch service within the community. As a Manager, you will create a team environment which fosters and develops effective working relationships, high performance and innovation. Staff will look to you for leadership, mentorship and support.
The Community: Kingston with its unique heritage and character is the major population centre of eastern Ontario. Located on Lake Ontario it is a 2-hour drive from Ottawa and a 2.5-hour drive from Toronto and Montreal. It is home to Queen's University, St. Lawrence College and the Royal Military College. Culture and the arts abound, along with fabulous shopping, dining and outdoor recreational experiences.
Qualifications:
- MLS from an accredited library school.
- Minimum of four years professional and demonstrated leadership experience relevant to the position.
- Experience in a unionized public library environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
- Strong customer service background and philosophy.
- Demonstrated ability to set goals, to establish priorities, think creatively, implement new ideas, and manage change.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent communications skills and organizational ability.
- Excellent supervisory skills, including the ability to train staff and promote teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an operational budget.
- Ability to work with other staff, professional colleagues, suppliers, vendors, public officials, and the general public in a pleasant and business-like manner.
Salary: $70,734 to $79,838 and a comprehensive benefits package.
